How June PRIDE month 2020 turned into a global digital revolution?

Even though there doesn't seem to be a brake put on COVID-19, June 2020 was an important month for the queer community, not just in India but across the globe. Stonewall Riots over the decades have become the focal point for the unification of the LGBTQIA+ against hate, violence, and injustice. However, this year something changed; the on-street pride marches turned into massive digital spaces that were inclusive and were putting efforts to be sensitive to all communities. Together we were spreading awareness, standing in solidarity, and ensuring that everyone is taken care of amidst - hunger, lack of access to healthcare/mental health services, violence against queer folks of color, to name a few.

We at Keshav Suri Foundation ensured that this PRIDE month, our digital spaces turn into actionable forums. We took our path-breaking conference Queering The Pitch and made it into an online learning and experience sharing hub. The LaLiT warriors continued to support the community and provided basic ration to those in need.

We could not cancel pride because of the pandemic,
because for us, PRIDE is every day. 🏳️‍🌈

Queering The Pitch LIVE - Agents of Change. We are in troubled times, and extraordinary situations require extraordinary measures. To keep the conversation around equality, diversity, and inclusion going, we brought together panel discussions that helped us as a foundation to plan our focus areas and also gave us a direction to where we are headed while further amplifying queer voices from the subcontinent. We are glad to inform you that in totality, we reached out to over 1,50,000 people through these panels.

Spreading the love virtually - in an attempt to be more accessible, we have started a pilot project. We are putting out content in regional/local languages, in the hope of connecting and striking a chord with non-English speaking queer folks. Look out for some Hindi posts this July.
Queering The Music - Isn't art a respite amidst the chaos? To keep our audience happy and entertained we teamed up with It Gets Better India, Kitty Su, and Smoke Lab, and had put together a night of Pride with a concert run and managed by LGBTQIA+ artists from various countries and nationalities.
